Without an account
You can use the whole recipe finder without signing up. The ingredients you tick are kept in your own browser (local storage), not sent to us.
Usage statistics
To see what's useful, the site counts page views and finder actions, such as which ingredient was ticked or a search that found nothing. It uses no cookies and doesn't store your IP address.
- Visits are grouped by an anonymous code made from your IP address, browser and a random value that changes every day. The daily value is then deleted, so visits can't be linked across days or back to you.
- We also note the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer) and the site you came from.
- These records are deleted after about 13 months.
With a free account
If you sign up, we store:
- your email address, when you signed up and when you last signed in;
- your saved pantry and favorite recipes.
We use your email address only to send sign-in links (each works once, for 20 minutes). We don't send marketing email and never sell or share your data.
Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 90 days. It's needed for the account to work and isn't used for tracking or advertising. Signing out ends it.
Deleting your data
On your account page, “Delete account” removes your account, pantry and favorites straight away. Database backups that contain them are replaced within two weeks.
Who handles it
The site and its database run on a server we rent from Amazon Web Services in the United States. Sign-in emails go through an email delivery service. Neither uses your data for anything else.
Changes
If this changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
